Crossmaglen Square in the 1930s

photo

Apparently taken in the early morning, given the absence of any sign of life, the empty square contains only a hand pump. There was no electricity; the telephone pole probably provided communication for the Police Barracks in Carrick Street, as well as some local businesses. Note the Market House and the Jackson Clock and bell.
